Hello, I am trying to trace my great grandmother's history. She was Hannah Elizabeth Edwards, daughter of David and Elizabeth (Nee Wynne?), born in 1839 and married to David Walters in Abergavenny in 1861.

I would appreciate any information on her parents' family history. Hannah and David emmigrated to South Australia on the Sir James Lawrence in 1862. Hannah gave birth to a daughter early in the voyage. My father's mother was the youngest child of David and Hannah.

Thank you.

Hello Pierre,
in the 1841 Census David and Elizabeth Edwards lived at Meeting House Lane, Bedwellty.

1851 Census: 22 East Lane Tredegar

1861 Census: Elizabeth (widow) and Hannah: 5 Bridge St Tredegar

I also noted viewing this census page again, that the names Mansell and Yandle appear in nearby residences, and also on the Ship's list of people emigrating to South Australia on The Sir John Lawrence that sailed from Plymouth on 2nd August 1862. Daniel Edwards, David's brother, was also on board.
I hope this helps.
Jan
