I was thinking of buying a small fruit tree for the patio. Anyone know what sort would do well in a container, and any tips looking after it? Would it be able to withstand our winter, outside or not? |

Maybe one of those dwarf apple or pear trees would suit. We have quite a variety of dwarf trees here in OZ, oranges, lemons, mandarins, mango, avocado etc. I don't know what's available in UK.
My dearest wish would be to grow red/blackcurrants........ our winters are just not cold enough! |

My son has a lovely apple tree in a container, bought it 18 mths ago and last aug/sept they had around four apples, loads of very pretty blossom this spring, so probably more apples this year, don't know how it would fair in a really bad winter, I would guess it would need some protection at the roots but it's lovely and has quite a small footprint
