9.6 million viewed the Grand National. Sadly one of the horses named Up For Review suffered a fatal injury, breaking his neck at the first hurdle. 21 horses did not finish. 19 horses finished the race, with many of them whipped to force them to run. I have two questions. Why do so many people watch this barbaric spectacle Should this cruel 'sport' be banned, or at least the rules be completly changed
I cringe with total disgust whenever this cruel spectacle takes place. It is barbaric to make those beautiful animals do those massive jumps all for gambling. Who really knows what that horse is feeling like before that race, it could be unwell on that particular day and yet they are whipped to run faster. If a horse breaks its leg - that is the end of its life, what a waste. It should be banned, I find it so sickening to see all those people dressed up to the nines to see if they are going to win or not.
I totally agree that race should be banned, but it won't ever be, there's too much money to be made. Horses don't seem to matter they're just a means to an end.
