I travelled back home from Tredegar yesterday. As we approached the M5 the clouds were building into some huge hammerheads. On reaching home an hour later the first rumbles could be heard and for the next five hours we had the full array of lightning. Very loud and a spectacular display. Today itís warm grey and misty after further downpours and more forecast. The series of storms have lasted since Monday. My car read 36 deg as I left Tredegar and was 26 deg by 11pm. This morning it was 18 deg.
Itís a remarkable photograph. Unlike most thunderstorms, there was hardly any rain during the early stages up here in the Midlands. Also, Iíve just noticed that the top of the photo shows a totally clear, starlit sky.
