Hello My name was Pauline Brown and I was evacuated to Tredegar from 1940-45. I lived in West Hill with Councillor John Stockton’s family. They had a daughter called Sylvia. A boy called Philip lived next door. Sylvia and I went to Earl Street School where we were also friends with Iris Charles (now Jones). I am in touch with Iris who has moved to Merthyr. She has recently sent me newspaper cuttings of the VE Day celebrations where Sylvia and I were standing alongside councillor Stockton on the podium.
I am interested in anything from those years - people, places, photos. Please let me know.
Hi there, There is a booklet called "Tredegar's part in WWII". Someone on the forum may be able to direct you to a copy. I am pretty certain it had pics of the Town Clock on VE Day with councillors on the balcony so you may be featured. I was at Earl St for some of that time but male/female were kept separate sp we probably did not meet.
